Tanzania , 5895 m  – visited september 2009.

Kilimanjaro is not really one freestanding mountain, but a range of extinct vulcano’s.  The best known mountain top is Kibo , the snow capped and highest peak.  The other peaks are Mawenzi and Shira.

During my five day trek, I visited both Mawenzi and Kibo until Uhuru peak. 

It is was a demanding but rewarding journey.  We climbed the mountain using the Rongai trail.  Our tour company was Peak Planet, which operates with the African Walking Company in Tanzania.  The full route is available here.
