Tejada, Alt. 1813 m , Gran Canaria – visited April 2010.
One of the highest places of Gran Canaria , this monolith of 80 m high is the remains of an old volcano – as is everything on Gran Canaria.
We walked a 5 hours walk from the parking lot at Roque Nublo circling this iconic mountain. We went to the old village of La Culata and could witness a sheep market there, thousands of sheep blocking the walking path and everything else… On this walk we also had a very nice view of the island Tenerife, with another famous volcano El Teide – must visit next time…
Next to Roque Nublo other iconic rocks are Roque San José and ‘The Friar’.
Nearby dam Presa de Los Hornos is also a famous landmark of Gran Canaria.
